Summer in Newcastle, NSW
We love living near the coast, especially in summer. Newcastle during summer is a mixture of early mornings and late afternoons, spent by the beach. Newcastle boasts some of the most perfect lifestyle options along the whole east coast, with the city, beach and harbour all close by.

We recently asked the question “what is your favourite part about Summer in Newcastle?” on our Instagram page, and here’s what you had to say!
Surfing and Swimming
Let’s be honest, we’re soft when it comes to water temperatures on the east coast. Do you know someone who won’t take a dip in the ocean unless it’s over 25°C? Going for a morning surf or swim along one of Newcastle’s iconic beaches has to be one of the highlights of summer in Newcastle!
Late Dinners and Daylight Savings
Undoubtedly, one of the best things about living this far south of the equator in summer is daylight savings. From October to April, the days are long, and the sunsets even longer. During these months the hours following the usual 5pm knock off are some of the most productive of the entire day. Many local Novocastrians enjoy a late dinner and swim at their favourite beach!

The Beaches and the Baths
Arguably two of the most iconic symbols of Newcastle. When going for a swim in Newcastle in summer, it’s always hard to choose between the baths and the amazing beaches. In particular, our Instagram followers mentioned the Merewether Ocean Baths and Bar Beach were their two favourites!
Tip: one of the best things to do on a warm summer’s afternoon is to have a picnic on the grass overlooking Bar Beach, before jumping in to cool off!

Summer for us is about all of these things and more. During summer we regularly operate our Adventure Tour between Newcastle and Catherine Hill Bay along the Lake Macquarie coastline. We also operate Sunset Sessions, these unique tours showcase the breathtaking Newcastle Harbour and Hunter River. Sit back and relax as we pass the Newcastle Foreshore, Stockton and Kooragang Island. Unwind as you watch the sun sink into the horizon, while you enjoy a complimentary locally-sourced cold beverage.
