Dom is passionate about the Hunter Coast, and believes CoastXP’s tours highlight some of Australia’s most beautifully stunning coastal landmarks. CoastXP is actively involved in enhancing the destination image of Newcastle and the Hunter Coast. We regularly collaborate with The University of Newcastle, local organisations and the broader community to showcase our beautiful region.
Our Story begins with creating innovative coastal interactions and experiences on the Hunter Coast
Dom is an Ocean Enthusiast whose passion for the marine environment led him to work in some of Australia’s most scenic coastal locations including Heron Island, North Stradbroke Island, Coffs Harbour, Lord Howe Island, Port Stephens and Sydney. Having grown up in Coffs Harbour, Dom completed his studies at the University of Newcastle and now calls Newcastle home. Dom has also studied at The University of Tasmania, and Nanyang Technological University in Singapore.
Meet our Founder
Hey! I’m Dom.
I'm passionate about everything to do with tourism and the ocean!
I grew up surfing and diving in Coffs Harbour, but now call Newcastle home. I love the community, coastline, beaches, surfing, cafés and restaurants. It is an evolving destination, and there are so many things to be excited about.
The Hunter Coast is a lifestyle hub, it is the perfect balance of a city and a relaxed coastal town. CoastXP is about combining my passion for the ocean with my skills in marine tourism to provide you with an authentic experience!
Meet the Team
G’day I’m Cam!
I am a local Newcastle boy, born and raised in the Hunter. I grew up in Merewether and have recently moved to Stockton, where I live surrounded by the water with my wife and our dog, Solomon. From Sunday to Thursday, I am a Marine Surveyor in the Port of Newcastle, where I perform a range of surveys to assist Vessel Masters and Owners during their visit.
Although home to the largest coal export network in Australia, Newcastle is so much more than a coal town and what better way to see it than by water with a bit of salt therapy! Come down and join Dom and I as we take you out on the water and share our love for all things salty with you!
Meet the Team
Hi I’m Rach!
I grew up here by the sea in Newcastle, exploring rock pools, learning to surf and staring out at the horizon, searching for whales. This connection I feel to the ocean led me to complete a Bachelor of Environmental Biology which opened my eyes to the magic of the natural world and renewed my appreciation for my hometown. During my degree, I developed a love of hiking, and have since experienced several multi-day hikes in different parts of Eastern Australia. My degree has gifted me the ability to really notice my surroundings and read into the history and ecology of the landscape.
I work in environmental education and communication across a diversity of different roles and am passionate about caring for the living world. I can’t wait to share with you some of my knowledge and open your eyes to the wonders of the Hunter coastline!
Feel the Experience!
CoastXP has put every measure in place to ensure we provide the highest quality experience, this starts with our vessel Atmos. The design allows for unobstructed 360° views, with the result of a truly unique experience.
Atmos is our custom built rigid inflatable. It is a modern ecotourism vessel, comfortably seating up to 20 passengers designed with sustainability in mind, by eliminating the need to antifoul. Atmos even has a toilet onboard.
It is constructed for a wide range of offshore conditions and features a large canopy providing shade and protection from the elements in hot, cold or wet conditions. Atmos is powered by two V8 Yamaha engines, giving a total 700hp to provide you with an incredibly safe and smooth ride, suitable for all ages.
Newcastle and the Hunter Coast is a changing destination. Our tours embrace the rich industrial and maritime heritage within the region, while opening our guest’s eyes to the new and exciting aspects of the Hunter Coast.
Newcastle is a completely NEW city, with a buzzing cafe and restaurant scene, full of creative art spaces, innovation and surf culture. Lake Macquarie is a unique city built upon the largest permanent saltwater lake in the southern hemisphere; it is loved for its beautiful beaches, cafes, national parks and sailing culture.
